Take the Hyundai and Check Out These 5 Hiking Trails Near Waipahu, HI Diamond Head Hike The Diamond Head State Monument, one of the island's most iconic features, is located on the eastern edge of Waikiki's shoreline. It covers 475 acres and provides enough for tourists to see and do, including a walk to the peak. The summit route was initially created in 1908 and is just 0.8 miles long. Even though it's a short walk, it's still strenuous - on that short trek, you'll gain 560 feet of elevation — but the view is worth it! more Waimea Falls Park The climb to Waimea Falls is more of a stroll than a workout, but it's still breathtaking. Upon arriving at the park, visitors may follow a paved road for a one-mile stroll through a beautiful botanical garden. Visitors are delighted at the end with a gleaming lake and waterfall. Those who feel brave may even go for a little swim before trekking back out. Koko Crater Trail Adventure seekers will enjoy the famed Koko Crater Trail, which is only a short drive from Waipahu. The walk-up is 1.6 miles long and should be taken gently. That's because the path up is surrounded by wildflowers on all sides. Guests may also visit the Koko Crater Botanical Garden at the summit for even more greenery and panoramic vistas. Lanikai Pillbox Hike The Lanikai Pillbox Hike provides great views of the surrounding ocean. The path is a short out and back, measuring slightly under two miles. However, like with the other treks, the height gain might be significant. The hike to the summit should take approximately 30 minutes, and hikers will want to remain for a bit to take it all in. While the climb is suitable for families, remember to wear appropriate footwear as it may be slick in certain places. Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail The Makapu'u Point walk offers visitors spectacular views of the island's coastline. And, at just 2.5 miles roundtrip, it's a route that practically everyone can finish. Visitors will also see and photograph the red-roofed Makapu'u Lighthouse while hiking the trek. The trail is completely paved, and there is little to no shade along the way.
