Understanding Hyundai’s Warranty: Comprehensive Coverage Explained

Hyundai is well-known for its efficiency, reliability, and innovative tech features. It also has the best warranty in the automotive industry. In the unlikely situation that a manufacturing issue is discovered, it will be repaired by Hyundai-trained technicians using only Hyundai-approved replacement parts. As your Hyundai dealer, we want to tell you about some of the protection your Hyundai warranty protection provides.

From Your Hyundai Dealer: Understanding Your Hyundai Warranty

New Vehicle Limited Warranty

This warranty protects almost every component and system in your vehicle. The only components not protected are those covered by the other warranties below. Coverage applies for the first five years or 60,000 miles, settling it far above the industry standard of three years or 36,000 miles.
Certain situations are excluded from warranty coverage, and these include accidental damage, repairs using unauthorized parts, or damage to the odometer that prevents the mileage from being read. These situations are further detailed in your warranty handbook.

Battery Coverage

Your original 12-volt battery is protected against any defect or failure under normal operating conditions for the first three years or 36,000 miles. In the event of a warranty issue, the battery will be replaced with a new Hyundai-approved battery.

Adjustment Coverage

Adjustments are any changes or alterations to your vehicle that don’t require replacement parts. These include, but are not limited to, seatbelts, the serpentine belt, and pedals. Adjustments are free for the first year or 12,000 miles. After this, adjustments will be made, but you incur a fee.

Radio And Sound Systems Coverage

Your original navigation system, sound system, and Bluetooth connection are protected by warranty for five years or 60,000 miles.

Paint Coverage

Your Hyundai’s paint job is protected against craving, discoloration, chipping, or fading for the first year or 12,000 miles.

AC Refrigerant Charge

If your AC needs a refrigerant recharge that isn’t part of an AC warranty repair, the recharge is free for the first year or unlimited mileage.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

The engine and transmission/transaxle, together with all their components, are protected for the first ten years or 100,000 miles. All components covered by this warranty are listed in your warranty handbook.

Hybrid/ Electric Vehicle Warranty

If you have a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric vehicle, all its unique systems are covered by warranty. Protected components include the battery management system, traction motor, and electric power control unit. Coverage lasts for ten years or 100,000 miles.

The lithium-ion battery is also covered by this warranty, with one exception. A battery loses electricity storage capacity over time due to the naturally occurring breakdown of the battery chemicals. This breakdown doesn’t generate a warranty claim.
