1. Pearl Harbor National Memorial

Nowadays, the place where the attack was carried out is managed by the National Park System and features a series of memorials, museums, and permanent exhibitions.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial is located just seven miles east of the Waipahu city center and can be reached in about 10 minutes by car via route I-H-1. Open to the public every day of the week between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, this place is a great spot to learn more about WWII through a series of exhibits, galleries, and a visitor center.

2. Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area

Encompassing a territory of nearly 385 acres, Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area is a sprawling nature reserve featuring the ruins of an ancient Hawaiian temple, great views of Pearl Harbor, and the remains of a military plane that crashed in the area during WWII. Located just nine miles east of downtown Waipahu, this place is a great spot for a day trip.

Open to the public year-round between 7:00 am and sundown, Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area features an extensive network of nature trails and wildlife-watching areas where visitors can check out some of the bird species that live on the island, including Japanese bush warblers, red-whiskered bulbuls, warbling white-eyes, and red-crested cardinals. Other activities you can enjoy in this place include picnicking and camping.

3. Iroquois Point Beach

A long, peaceful, and sandy beach featuring volleyball courts, picnic tables, and shady palapas, Iroquois Point Beach is a great destination for anyone wanting to spend a day sunbathing or swimming in the ocean. Located less than 10 miles south of Waipahu, this scenic beach can be reached in just 20 minutes by car via Fort Weaver Road.
